Newport Indoor Golf, located on the Raytheon campus, gives players an opportunity to improve throughout the year.

PORTSMOUTH — The first frosting of fall, if not earlier, generally signals the end of golf season in New England. Sure, there are those die-hards who don winter hats and heavy coats, shivering their way through a round, but even they can’t overcome a snow-covered course.

Max Buerman, owner of Newport Indoor Golf, has a solution for players who want to improve their game throughout the year.

The indoor golf facility, located inside the same building as the Newport Car Museum on the Raytheon campus, uses top technology to analyze a player’s swing while giving that player an opportunity to tee it up on a number of renowned courses in a fun and festive atmosphere.

“There weren’t any indoor golf [opportunities] in the area,” Buerman said. “In the wintertime, there’s nothing really around here, so I created Newport Indoor Golf. This is something you can enjoy when it’s raining, or it’s 25 degrees outside. You can come in and play 18 holes at a course in England, and we can make that happen in five minutes.
